Princeton University will play a major leadership role in a new multi-institution center for the advancement of quantum science research announced by the U.S. Department of Energy. The Co-design Center for Quantum Advantage (C2QA), headquartered at Brookhaven National Laboratory, will develop quantum technologies to serve as the platform for the computing innovations of the future, promising benefits for national security, pharmaceutical development, optimization of resources and more. With involvement from 24 research institutions and over 70 lead investigators, C2QA will include several Princeton faculty members in major leadership roles. The deputy director and second in command is Princeton Professor of Electrical Engineering Andrew Houck.
